Join us every Saturday morning with your dog or puppy for socialization and playtime.
Talk with other owners while your dog/puppy has a blast.
Our knowledgeable staff will be on hand to monitor the group and answer any questions you may have regarding behavior, training, housebreaking, nutrition, chewing, etc.

TemptationMr. Edwards was one of the lead singers of The Temptations. In 1989 he was inducted into the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame. He has 14 Golden Albums and 5 Grammys.

Bittersweet romance, tender farce, and a shot of history for good measure. Taylor gives us the Stott family in the north of England during World War II, underscored with music of the era. Helen, the eldest daughter expects little in the way of love, but the appearance of a soldier named Norman causes a seismic shift in the way she sees herself and her world. Does love give us the freedom to be transformed, even in the midst of turbulent times?

One of the most popular events in New England, presenting our best line up ever including performers that will keep the audience talking for years to come.

Headliners include Pure Prairie League, with the huge hit "Amie", as well as The Waybacks, the beautiful voice and songwriting of Gretchen Peters,and back by popular demand is Anais Mitchell. Other favorites include Cheryl Wheeler,
Catie Curtis
, Sons of The Never Wrong (sons.com), Jonathan Edwards, and Emilia Dahlin,  who we feel is our own rising star. Local favorite Ash Fischbein will be with us as well as nationally acclaimed artist David Olney with Sergio Webb...and we're not done yet! More acts to come...

HARVEST FESTIVAL

 Saturday, September 13, 2008, 1 – 4pm

The Remick Museum will have its annual Harvest Festival on Saturday, September 13, 2008, from 1-4pm. Join us for horse-drawn hay rides, craft making, farm games, and live folk music with Doug Hazard. Try your hand at harvesting corn, flax and mangelwurtzel using historic techniques. The Remick Museum concession stand will sell apples treats, including apple fritters and apple cider.

 

While attending the Harvest Festival, come inside the Visitor’s Center and tour the living quarters of Dr. Edwin Crafts Remick, the country doctor who owned the property, and see exhibits on the agricultural way of life in New Hampshire from 1790 to the present.

 

 

 

Experience the warmth and charm of an early 19th century Hearthside Dinner, where the meal is cooked entirely on the open hearth. The Remick staff, dressed in traditional 19th century attire, prepare a nourishing meal using historic recipes and ingredients preserved fresh from the harvest. The menu for each meal varies, and rest assured, the ingredients were raised on site at the Remick. Hearthside Dinners are usually a cozy gathering of eight people, and they are designed for adult audiences. Young people age 16 and up are welcome with an adult in attendance.  Fee is $35.00 per person, and pre-registration is required.

 

A Hearthside Dinner menu is subject to change with each season; it will reflect our garden harvest yield and livestock processing program for 2007. The following are sample menus:

A new special event at Remick Museum, Blessing of the Animals will take place on the grounds of Remick Farm on Saturday, October 4, 2008, at 10am. A multi-denominational team of MWV clergy will lead a ceremony to bless you and your pet(s). They will also bless the livestock on Remick Farm.

The participating clergy members are: the Reverend Tom Abugelis, Pastor, Chocorua Community Church, Chocorua, NH and the Tamworth Congregational Church Yoked Ministries, Tamworth, NH, the Reverend Mary Edes, Pastor, Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of the Eastern Slopes, Tamworth, NH, the Reverend Nancy Eldridge Hess, PhD, Executive Director, Calumet Lutheran Ministries, Freedom, NH, and the  Reverend Donald F. Gauthier, Jr., Pastor, Our Lady of the Mountains Roman Catholic Community, Intervale, NH.

 his event will celebrate the gift of animals in our lives, while invoking the protection of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals, whose feast day is October 4th.

HISTORIC THANKSGIVING

 Saturday, November 15, 2008 1 – 4pm

Come enjoy some good food, a warm fire, country crafts, and a healthy dose of history at Historic Thanksgiving on Saturday, November 15, 2008, from 1-4pm. Our museum interpreters will prepare a traditional Thanksgiving meal on the open hearth using historic recipes.

The menu for Historic Thanksgiving includes roasted turkey, bread sauce stuffing-dressing, hearth bread and butter, boiled cider pie, Indian pudding, pumpkin stuffed with apples and cranberry sauce. In the English Barn, try your hand at making apple cider, and make a corn cob feather dart.

Are you raising your own turkey for Thanksgiving this year? Take the next step, and see a demonstration on how to properly "dress" a turkey- from slaughtering the bird, to plucking feathers, to cleaning and storing poultry. This activity will take place outdoors on the farm- only those interested in turkey processing will see the activity.

VICTORIAN CHRISTMAS

AT REMICK MUSEUM & CAPTAIN ENOCH REMICK HOUSE

 Sunday, December 7, 2008, 1 – 4PM

 Come enjoy chocolate treats, sugar cookies, country crafts, and a little history at the annual Victorian Christmas at the Remick Country Doctor Museum and Farm and the Captain Enoch Remick House on Sunday, December 7, 2008, from 1-4pm. Both houses will be beautifully decorated in Victorian style.

Sample chocolate treats, such as steamed chocolate pudding, black & gold marble cake, sweet vanilla hot chocolate, candied peel, chocolate nuts, and chocolate truffles. Taste the traditional holiday drink, Syllabub. In the Museum Visitor’s Center, try your hand at making country crafts, including corn husk angels, felted snowballs, and decorative gift tags. View exhibits on Christmas traditions, and see the living quarters of Dr. Edwin Crafts Remick, the country doctor who owned the property.

Take a horse-drawn sleigh ride through the Joe Binsack Trail, offering spectacular views of Remick Farm. (The sleigh rides will be converted to wagon rides if mild weather comes and melts the snow by Sunday.)

 The staff at the Captain Enoch Remick House will be baking sugar cookies; they will also have the Christmas drink, Wassail, and ginger snaps. See Victorian era decorations, which include an antique toy collection.

 While at Victorian Christmas, visit the newly expanded Remick Museum Shop stocked with American-made country gifts and toys, including Henderson Redware, earthenware pottery created from 19th century designs. Friends of Remick Museum- be sure to use your 10% discount at the Museum Shop!
